“Monitoring of archaeological monuments of Ukraine” – report to the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine

On December 13, 2023, a meeting of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine was held. One of the main issues that was discussed was report by Alla Buyskikh, a correspondent member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, on the topic “Monitoring of archaeological sites of Ukraine: current state and losses as a result of military aggression of the russian federation”. Corresponding member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, director of the Institute of Archaeology Viktor Chabai, researcher of the Department of Ancient Greece and Rome of the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnology of the Polish Academy of Sciences Dr. Alfred Tvardetskyi, associate professor at the Department of Archaeology and Museum Studies, Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Pavlo Shydlovskyi participated in the discussion on the problems of protecting cultural heritage in wartime conditions.

“The archaeological heritage of Ukraine is an extremely important part of the world’s cultural heritage. That is why the protection of archaeological sites and monuments of the past, located throughout Ukraine, especially in such a difficult time that came after the unprovoked attack of the Russian Federation on Ukraine on February 24, 2022, worries all archaeologists.”
